Trauma impacts a large percentage of Americans and only recently has its impact been identified as a public health concern. The reverberating effects of traumatic experiences can challenge a person’s capacity for recovery and pose significant barriers to accessing health care, education, and treatment. Being trauma-informed helps legal professionals avoid re-traumatizing individuals, increases workplace safety, improves relationships with clients, and promotes and supports recovery.
