Taxpayer Advocate Service Problem Solving Day

The Taxpayer Advocate Service (TAS) will be available to assist taxpayers in person with tax problems they have not been able to resolve with the IRS. Our goal is to provide one to one guidance and direction on next steps to resolve your issue. If your tax problem meets our criteria, we’ll assign a Case Advocate to work with you to resolve your issue.
In partnership with Congressman Paul Tonko and the Albany Public Library, Albany TAS employees along with a staff attorney from the Legal Aid Society LITC will be available from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. to assist taxpayers with unresolved IRS issues.
The Taxpayer Advocate Service is an independent organization within the Internal Revenue Service that helps taxpayers and protects taxpayer rights. We help taxpayers whose problems with the IRS are causing financial difficulties, who’ve tried but haven’t been able to resolve their problems. Best of all, our service is free!
