In accordance with a directive from the Governor and in tandem with the State Department of Public Services, all major providers of gas and electricity, as well as most private water companies, have pledged not to discontinue services during the pandemic and will work with customers who are experiencing financial hardship.

 

On March 25, 2020, Governor Cuomo directed, and the Public Service Commission approved, a delay of New York American Water and National Grid rate increases that were scheduled to take effect on April 1. They will now take effect in September and July 2020, respectively.
